PUBLIC NOTICE: Phase Three – Rio Grande Trail Asphalt Repair Project Construction Impacts Updates

PHASE ONE of asphalt repair that started in May, on the Rio Grande Trail from Emma Road to Hooks Spur Trailhead (mile post 21.5 to 20.5) is OPEN.
PHASE TWO of asphalt repair that started on June 3rd, from Hook Spur trailhead to Rock Bottom Ranch, mile post 20.5 to 18.5 is OPEN.


PHASE THREE
of asphalt repair is starting on July 8th, from Rock Bottom Ranch to the Catherine Bridge Trailhead (MP 18.5 to 16.0). This is the wildlife section of the trail and will be CLOSED until further notice. Please follow the detour for your safety and the safety of our workers. DETOUR ROUTE: Take Hooks Lane, left to Willits Lane, then Valley Road to HWY 82 Frontage Rd, and a left onto Catherine Store Road where you will be able to connect back onto the Rio Grande Trail.

The Roaring Fork Transportation Authority (RFTA) and Holmes Excavation are excited to bring a much needed improvement to the Rio Grande Trail. We appreciate your patience, cooperation, and understanding as we work to repair and replace asphalt, ensuring a smoother and safer trail experience.

To minimize disruption and ensure efficiency, trail repairs will unfold in four distinct phases:
Phase One: Emma Rd to Hooks Spur Trailhead (MP 21.5 to 20.5) RE-OPENED
Phase Two: Hooks Spur Trailhead to Rock Bottom Ranch (MP 20.5 to 18.5). RE-OPENED
Phase Three: Rock Bottom Ranch to the Catherine Bridge Trailhead (Wildlife section – MP 18.5 to 16.0). CLOSED from July 8, 2024 until further notice.
Phase Four: Crack Sealing along the RGT from 29th St in GWS up valley to Emma Rd; the trail will remain open during this phase of work. (MP 2.0 to 21.5).

Follow All Posted Detours: RFTA and Holmes Excavation will establish temporary detours for trail users to navigate around construction zones safely. Please follow all trail closures and detours for your safety and the safety of our workers.
